Gum disease can lead to stroke, heart disease...
and other serious conditions.
Ann Winchester (London) It’s the health news that rocked the medical world! Studies conducted at several prestigious American universities and research centres have confirmed without a doubt that there is an important link between gum disease and major illnesses including heart disease and stroke.

Given that most people have some degree of gum disease, these findings are cause for serious alarm! Gum disease is the chronic inflammation of the gums, bones and ligaments that support the teeth. It has long been known that gum disease leads to the loss of teeth – but until recently, it was seldom considered a life-threatening condition! Now, however, it’s time to take a new look at gum disease – and how to control it. The consequences of neglecting this common health problem have become deadly, indeed!

Bacteria love the mouth! In fact, it’s paradise for them. Every person’s mouth plays host to over 300 species of bacteria. If left unchecked, these bacteria will flourish and increase in numbers – forming colonies in the spaces between teeth and gums. This can lead to gingivitis, inflammation of the gums and tissue. Gingivitis can develop into low grade infections and lead to periodontitis – a condition whereby the gums draw back from the teeth, creating further pockets for spreading infection.

As the infection spreads, the bacteria start to destroy the supporting bones beneath the gums. This loosens the teeth and leads to tooth loss. And, when there is any tear in the gum tissue, this provides a super-highway for bacteria to invade the bloodstream, carrying toxic compounds all around the body.

The body must have a robust immune system to deal with this onslaught of bacteria. If not, the bacteria invade the fatty deposits in the carotid arteries. Once there, these periodontal pathogens in the bloodstream may help speed the onset and progression of atherosclerosis which leads to cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease. Other risks are low-grade infections and systemic problems.

Latest research is showing a link between periodontal disease and other systemic diseases including arthritis, leukemia and disorders of the immune system.
STROKE – A study of people averaging 66 years of age established that arterial plaque deposits were 50% greater in those with severe gum disease, than those with healthy gum tissue. It is thought that the presence of bacteria in the arteries acts as an irritant, and causes plaque formation and build-up.

CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE – A recent American study showed that people with periodontal disease are nearly 3 times as likely to suffer a heart attack, compared to those with healthy gums. In fact, among people under the age of 60, gum disease was pinpointed as a more significant risk factor for cardiovascular disease than high blood pressure!

Another study found that 85% of heart attack patients had periodontal disease compared to 29% of the healthy volunteers.

DIABETICS – Diabetics are naturally predisposed to bacterial infections – given their problems associated with regulating sugar levels. Periodontitis can make this problem worse. Some diabetics have been able to reduce their insulin, once treated for periodontal disease.

PREMATURE BIRTHS – A recent study revealed that pregnant women suffering with severe gum disease were up to 8 times more likely to go into labour prematurely, and give birth to underweight babies. It is believed that prostaglandin, a labour-inducing chemical present in dental plaque is the cause of this very worrying problem.

But what can we do?

Brushing and flossing are important – and should form part of your daily oral health care routine. But they aren’t enough! Ironically, these good practices can actually loosen bacteria and hasten their spread – making it more likely that they will enter the bloodstream. To counter this unfortunate side-effect of good oral health routines, something else is needed.

The answer is ORAL-PURE. New revelations about the link between oral bacteria and serious disease, has spurred researchers to formulate new products to aid the body in its fight against periodontal disease. ORAL-PURE is a scientifically formulated anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial oral spray that is easy to use and include in your daily routines.

ORAL-PURE will ease the symptoms of gum disease – including bleeding, swollen gums. But it also prevents the spread of harmful bacteria that cause the problem. Often recommended by dentists to their patients who are prone to gum disease, users report wonderful results with ORAL-PURE. Here is a typical report this one sent to us by Amanda Bryant of London.

“I recently underwent some major dental
surgery, including root canal work and
some extractions. My dentist was amazed
at how quickly I healed – and the good
condition of my gums at my age, which is
69. I give the credit to ORAL-PURE,
which I have been using for about six
months. I am convinced that ORAL-PURE
kept my mouth bacteria free and enabled
me to heal quickly.”

Why is ORAL-PURE so effective?

ORAL-PURE has been scientifically formulated by experts in dental hygiene and oral health. Its unique formula is completely natural – with ingredients that are extremely effective when used alone, but even more effective in combination. The list of ingredients is impressive, to say the least!
Natural ingredients – safe and effective.

LAVENDER EXTRACT – treasured since ancient times, the very name ‘lavender’ is taken from the Latin meaning ‘to wash’. A superb cleanser, lavender boosts the circulatory and immune systems, enhancing the overall health of the mouth and gums. The lavender used in ORAL-PURE is grown from the finest seeds, cultivated at high altitudes where a short growing season ensures the highest quality.

VITAMIN C – a key immune system nutrient, C helps battle disease-causing bacteria and protects the tissues of the body from free-radical damage.

GREEN TEA – when applied directly to mouth tissue, green tea inhibits the progress of periodontal disease and decay causing bacteria. Green tea may also reduce the risk of cancer of the mouth.

ROSEMARY – Easily absorbed through the lining of the mouth, this natural flower extract is one of nature’s most powerful antioxidants.

MENTHOL – famous for giving the mouth a fresh, clean feeling that lasts for hours, menthol also fights the bacteria that cause disease.

PLUS, calendula and thyme oils to close infective gaps. Myrrh oil to overcome inflammation, tighten gums and prevent pyorrhea. Healing oils of eucalyptus, juniper and clove add to the mouth-protecting weaponry of this powerful formula.

On guard – 24 hours a day!

It is simply a fact of life that if you do not protect your oral health, you will endanger your general health. This has been established beyond a doubt. Many studies now prove that poor oral health has very grave implications – and can lead to serious diseases that may seem far removed from the teeth and gums.

Handy and highly effective! ORAL-PURE is packaged as a compact spray – so convenient to use and carry in pocket or handbag. More effective than brushing or flossing, ORAL-PURE is a super safeguard against periodontal disease.

“There is a big shortage of NHS dentists in Scotland and when my regular dentist retired, I was unable to find another NHS dentist. I cannot afford to pay privately, so I just quit going to the dentist for awhile – two years, in fact. But right after I lost my dentist, a friend recommended Oral-Pure and I started using it every day. I used to have problems with bleeding gums, and this stopped after just a few weeks. When I finally found another NHS dentist after two years, she said my mouth and teeth were in tip top condition! She couldn’t find any cavities, and said my gums were exceptionally pink and healthy. I have Oral-Pure to thank for maintaining my oral health during the time I couldn’t find a dentist. I use it every day – and always will.”
Janet M, Aberdeenshire

“Although I am 76 years of age, I still have all my teeth. I give a good part of the credit to my use of Oral-Pure. When I started using Oral-Pure it made a difference right away. My gums stopped bleeding and my mouth always felt fresh and clean all day. My dentist always comments on what good teeth and gums I have for someone of my age. I have always taken care of my teeth and gums, but Oral-Pure has given them the biggest boost ever.”
Sarah L, London
“I always believed that flossing every day was a good idea but it often made my gums bleed. After I started using Oral-Pure the bleeding after flossing stopped in about 2 weeks. Also, I used to use a strong mouthwash that I bought at the supermarket. This gave me a fresh feeling for awhile, but I noticed that this soon faded and left my mouth feeling stale again. Oral-Pure has a wonderful effect similar to mouthwash, but it actually lasts all day. And another benefit of Oral-Pure that I didn’t expect is whiter teeth. Several of my friends have noticed this – and I can see it too!”
Lorraine C, Bristol

“I am fifty years old and not long ago I noticed my gums were starting to recede. I didn’t want to look ‘long in the tooth’! My best friend recommended Oral-Pure and I am very pleased that she did! My gums now look pink and healthy and youthful. Also I no longer have problems with mouth ulcers. I used to get them about once every three weeks. I use Oral-Pure every day and it is as much a part of my daily routine as brushing and flossing. Thank you!
